One of the main goals for Oregon Active is staying active in our community. We believe that the only way to sustain our great way of life is to give something back.
All of us at Oregon Active have been very fortunate along the way to have had the opportunity to share and enjoy so many wonderful experiences with so many great people. Since our inception we have been devoted to making a difference in our community and giving back where and when we can. We have created a group where having fun can make a difference. Where enjoying your friends and the outdoors can not only change your life for the better but can help better the lives of others as well.
The Oregon Active Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit dedicated to providing outdoor adventures for those in our community that are affected by life challenging conditions. The Oregon Active Foundation focuses on facilitating these adventures for young cancer survivors, at risk children in challenging situations, and members of our community with disabilities. With help from people like you, the Oregon Active Foundation enables these children and adults to discover a sense of adventure and empowerment that enhances their passion for life.
Our unique day trips and extended adventure series build confidence in one’s own health and abilities while providing a chance to meet new people and experience new perspectives. We offer opportunities where the affected and disabled can challenge their views on living while redefining their lives.
The primary objective of these adventures is to enhance the physical, social and emotional well-being of participants through physical activity. We strive to take an approach that focuses on psychosocial health and the wellness that is derived from active, empowering adventures. We facilitate days of stress free fun that become memories forever etched in the hearts and minds of everyone involved.
We at the Oregon Active Foundation have made it our mission to provide support for the affected, their families, and the charitable institutions that serve them. Within these group bonding adventures we provide an environment full of special moments. We encourage living life to the fullest while making new friends and creating lasting memories.
Thank you for making a difference and for taking the time to be involved. We truly appreciate your consideration and generosity.
Programs:
Child Mentoring – Working closely with Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest we create moments of fun and adventure that “Littles” and their “Big” mentors can share together. We take a multi pronged approach to encourage the recruitment and retention of youth mentors. We help facilitate adventures such as the “Bigs for a Day” program which helps to connect some of the at risk children, who have long been awaiting mentors, with volunteers in an effort to provide lasting positive matches. We provide adventures that allow existing Bigs and their matches to experience new and exciting activities designed to strengthen their special bond.
Adaptive Sports – The joy of physical accomplishment and exercise, what it provides for the body, the mind, and the soul cannot be measured in material terms. We encouragethe disabled to redefine and challenge how they view their abilities and potential. We provide the thrill of flying through weightless powder on an alpine slope or arriving at the summit of a cliff or mountain just scaled. Discovery through physical activity, body awareness, and endurance becomes an expression of well being and happiness. The ability to compete in sports with others and the sense of self empowerment that it achieves is an indispensable part of the experience we help to create.
Young Survivors Group - We have seen time and time again the true benefits and positive impacts our outdoor recreation and adventures have...how sometimes just a little laughter, a day of smiles, and a sense of adventure can go a long way to improving one's health and spirits. This provides us with the perfect opportunity to give these experiences to a broad range of cancer survivors as well as many local facilities and support groups.
